Fundraising Manager

EQUAL PostOst e.V.

Position: Fundraising Manager
Workload: Part-time (20 hours/week) with potential to increase to full-time
Location: Fully remote (CET timezone ±4 hours)

Security Requirement

We work directly with individuals facing political persecution. For security reasons, we cannot collaborate with candidates who reside in Russia, Belarus, Central Asian countries, or who regularly travel to these regions.

About Us

EQUAL PostOst e.V. is a European human rights organisation supporting LGBTIQ individuals from Eastern Europe and Central Asia who face political persecution. Currently, the majority of requests we receive come from queer people in Russia.

We provide evacuation and relocation support, conduct risk assessments and consultations, assist with humanitarian visas to safe countries, arrange short-term housing, and offer legal and psychological support. We also carry out advocacy at the EU level and prepare analytical and human rights reports for European institutions.

Our core mission is to save lives and protect the rights of people persecuted for who they are.

As our organisation grows, we need to build a stable and sustainable funding structure. We are looking for someone to ensure our team always has the resources for daily operations, critical projects, and long-term programmes.

Your Role

Your mission is to secure the resources that enable our team to work sustainably and expand.

You will write grant proposals, identify funding opportunities, plan budgets, and manage relationships with foundations and partners. This is not a transactional "applications manager" role, but a strategic position where you will own the results and shape our financial future.

Your responsibilities

  • Contributing to the organisation's annual financial planning
  • Monitoring and scouting relevant grant opportunities and preparing compelling applications
  • Managing donor and foundation communications throughout the entire funding cycle
  • Preparing donor and grant reports
  • Making well-justified decisions on reallocating funds between programmes when needed
  • Coordinating closely with accounting, leadership, programme coordinators, and project managers

Who We Are Looking For

  • Proven track record in successful grant writing and full-cycle grant management—from opportunity scouting to final reporting
  • Fluent English for independent communication with donors and foundations, including complex negotiations
  • Working proficiency in Russian
  • Additional European language skills are a plus
  • Strong alignment with LGBTIQ+ rights, migration, and anti-persecution work—or a genuine commitment to learn
  • Deep sense of responsibility for resource decisions that directly impact people's safety
  • Self-driven yet collaborative; you value teamwork and dialogue
  • Focused on sustainable impact, not just ticking boxes
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for conferences and donor pitches (rare)

What We Offer

  • A role where your decisions have immediate, life-saving impact
  • Meaningful work in a young, professional, engaged human rights team built on mutual support
  • Fully remote work with a flexible schedule, respecting personal boundaries
  • Growth opportunities alongside the organisation—shape systems, not just execute tasks
  • Access to professional training, EU donor networks, and direct experience with European institutions

Terms

  • Part-time (20 hours/week) with potential for role expansion
  • Consultancy agreement initially, with potential for formal employment
  • Three-month probation period for mutual fit and process alignment
  • Clear path to full-time employment upon successful collaboration
  • Flexible schedule, fully remote
  • Start date: as soon as possible

Important

We do not consider candidates who have been noticed supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as any forms of racism, antisemitism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, or migrantphobia. We also consider the slogan “from the river to the sea” unacceptable.

We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment within our team.
