HR / Volunteer Coordinator

Position: HR / Volunteer Coordinator
Engagement type: Volunteer position or internship
Location: Fully remote (CET timezone ±4 hours)

Important Security Requirement
We work with people under political persecution. For security reasons, we cannot collaborate with individuals who live in Russia, Belarus, or Central Asian countries, or who travel to these countries. This is a strict requirement, and no exceptions can be made.

About Us

EQUAL PostOst e.V. is a European human rights organization supporting LGBTQI people from Eastern Europe and Central Asia who are facing political persecution. At present, the majority of our requests come from queer individuals under persecution in Russia.

We work on evacuation and relocation, provide consultations and risk assessments, support humanitarian visa applications to safe countries, offer short-term accommodation, and provide legal and psychological assistance. We also engage in advocacy within the EU and prepare analytical and human rights reports for European institutions.

Our mission is to help people stay safe and protect their rights. The organization relies heavily on a team of volunteers, and at this stage it is important for us to build a more sustainable and structured system for working with them.

Your Role

You will be responsible for coordinating volunteers and supporting internal team processes. This includes participating in recruiting and onboarding new people, distributing tasks, maintaining communication, and helping ensure that the team’s work remains stable and predictable.

It is important not only to manage current tasks, but also to gradually build clearer processes: how people join the team, how they integrate into the work, and how they stay engaged over time.

Your Responsibilities

• Search for and carry out initial screening of volunteers
• Organize and conduct onboarding
• Coordinate tasks and distribute workload within the team
• Maintain regular communication with volunteers
• Monitor workload and engagement
• Support in resolving organizational issues and conflict situations
• Contribute to building and improving internal processes
• Maintain basic team documentation

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with both people and processes. It is important to be able to balance team tasks with people’s well-being, especially considering that many work under challenging conditions.

Our expectations:

• Interest in HR, coordination, or working with teams (experience is a plus but not required)
• Ability to communicate calmly, respectfully, and to the point
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and follow tasks through to completion
• Ability to manage multiple processes at the same time
• Russian as a working language
• Interest in LGBTQI rights, migration, and human rights work

This role is unlikely to be a good fit if you are not comfortable communicating frequently and in a friendly manner with people.

What We Offer

• An opportunity to gain practical experience in HR and coordination within an international human rights organization
• Work in a team where support, respect, and responsibility are valued
• Flexible format and the possibility to combine this role with studies or other activities
• Understanding of how processes work in a non-profit organization
• A chance to contribute to work that directly impacts people’s safety

Conditions

• Flexible schedule and fully remote format
• Level of involvement to be agreed
• Volunteer or internship format, with the possibility of further collaboration on a paid (fee-based) basis
• Start date: May 2026

How to Apply

Please send your application to [email protected]  with the subject line: HR / Volunteer Coordinator. Please include:

• CV (up to 2 pages)
• Two references from your previous employement or projects
• A short text (up to 1 page) answering the following questions:

– Why are you interested in this role?
– Do you have experience working with teams or people?

Deadline: 30 April 2026. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

Important

We do not consider candidates who have supported Russian aggression against Ukraine, or who have been involved in any forms of racism, antisemitism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, or anti-migrant discrimination. We also consider the slogan “from the river to the sea” unacceptable.

We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment within the team.
